By someone in Iowa, who had attempted to buy $107 worth of food at McDonald’s, followed by $close to that amount at a local food place. Those charges were both blocked by Chase and I was notified soon after, although an $11 online purchase made it through. Is this really why people illegally gain access to someone’s account? To fund a fast-food craving..?
Chase was great to deal with. Opened the mobile app, clicked the relavent card, and it only took one more click to freeze the card. They’ve got a great UI, that really gets a good balance between simplicity and having access to everything. No bullshit “go to our desktop site for the full user experience” like Bank of America.
Called the number on the back of the card and within five minutes the charges were removed, the card was permantly shut off, a new one was overnighted and an email was sent detailing the above.
Good is on the way, and I’ve got some homebrewed apple.... Uhh.... “alcohol” that a warehouse manager I’ve worked with gave me earlier today. He said it was moonshine-ish and the base was everclear, but I opened the top and it smelled amazing. Not like something you’d use to remove aircraft paint. That’s a massive cinnamon stick that’s been sitting in there for about thirty days now. Should be good!

When my former stepdad’s credit card was stolen, they bought Domino’s and went to Shopper’s, presumably to buy Pepto Bismol.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t used a different bank, but I find BOA’s app to be pretty excellent.

When I was in high school, one of the older looser neighbor boys got busted for using a stolen credit card to buy an exhaust system for his El Camino.
I agree about Chase’s UI and customer service. I’ve always found them really easy to work with.

How do you even spend $107 at McDonald’s? Rent out the whole restaurant for the evening?
Also, that’s really the best place the thief could think of to drop $100+ on food?

I opened this card for the Alaska miles which are great for someone flying between Asia and the west coast, and for the annual $100 domestic ticket to save some serious cash on the rare pricy domestic flight.
BoA doesn’t have anything on the app that even let’s me know how many points I have, no redemption options, no info on benefits and rewards.... Just this, directing me to Online Banking when I click the “rewards” tab. Even without this massive functionality issue, I’d still say that Chase, AmEx and Capitol One all have vastly superior apps. And all-around experiences really. I’ve set up auto minumum payments on all other accounts just in case I ever forget somehow, and it all went smoothly. Well, except with BoA. I eventually had to contact customer support for something that should take 60 seconds, only to be told I need a checking or savings account with them to set up auto-payments. No linking external accounts like with every other major credit card issuer I’ve ever dealt with.
(sorry for the rant, this is admittedly a sore spot)

I vote for Voltage. It would be a travesty to let Supernova win the DEWmocracy

The guy who stole my checkbook wrote checks at Toys R Us and a grocery store. He got away with it.
The person who got my credit card tried to buy a bunch of jewelry. The transaction was stopped before anything was shipped.
